Advanced Maternity Practitioner course
Our Advanced Maternity Practitioner course is a comprehensive Level 4 online programme designed to reflect real maternity practitioner roles from the very first day with a newborn through to complex family situations, safeguarding and advanced professional practice. It is built around clear, structured learning and gives you the time, space and support to consolidate your existing experience while deepening your clinical understanding, judgement and confidence.
Whats Included
When you enrol, you receive access to a complete package of structured, evidence informed learning resources. You will work through 30 hours of pre course reading using national guidance and key professional sources, so that the content you meet inside the course is rooted in up to date practice rather than opinion. The programme is organised into 10 progressive learning modules that mirror real maternity practitioner work, from hands on newborn care to international and agency placements.
To help you test and consolidate your knowledge, the course includes more than 1,000 knowledge check multiple choice questions spread across the modules. These are designed to strengthen your clinical understanding, sharpen your ability to recognise red flags and build your confidence in your own judgement. Alongside this, you will have access to 20 video presentations that bring the material to life with applied examples and scenario based teaching, so you can see how the theory translates into day to day work with families.
You will also complete 20 essay style questions that invite you to think more deeply about practice, reflect on your own experience and demonstrate how you would respond in complex or sensitive situations. This written element is there to develop your reasoning, reflection and applied decision making rather than just your ability to recall facts. Throughout the course you will have access to practitioner tools such as record keeping templates, checklists and signposting guidance that you can adapt for your own work.
On successful completion, you will receive a certificate recognising your advanced maternity practitioner knowledge and the depth of study you have undertaken. Optional ongoing support and guidance are available to help you continue to develop your practice beyond the end of the formal programme.
